Famous Auckland pizza store placed in liquidation, owing creditors $1.36 million

A popular pizza place in Auckland owes more than $1.36 million to its employees, Inland Revenue and other creditors.

Famous for its metre-long pizzas, Toto Pizza was put into liquidation on July 6.

The pizza place has been operating in Auckland for more than 21 years and has a store in Auckland's CBD and one in Manukau.

According to the liquidator's first report, creditors are claiming about $1,368,000 with Toto owing $48,000 in wages and holiday pay to its employees.  Read the article here.

Christchurch professional man admits $402,000 tax offences

A Christchurch professional has 10 days to tell his clients about his tax offences totalling $402,000 before his name suppression lapses.

The man has had interim suppression as the case went to trial, and defence counsel Jonathan Eaton QC asked for the order to be continued for another 10 days, to allow the man to contact clients about his convictions. Some of them are out of New Zealand.

Inland Revenue senior prosecutor Paul Saunders said the charges related to seven companies that had gone into liquidation. The man was a director and joint shareholder of each of the companies, along with another person, either in his own name or through a family trust.

The companies ran businesses around Christchurch between December 2010 and June 2014.
